About the Artist:
Bob spent his college years focusing on fine art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, leaving for one year to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Universidad de Bellas Artes. A portrait and quick sketch artist by trade for nearly 30 years, he has now turned his artistic talents towards landscapes.

Working mostly in oils and plein aire, Bob has studied with Matt Smith, John Budicin and Kenn Backhaus, and spent a week in East Lyme, CT., attending the Plein Aire Painters of America workshop.

The Artist on His Art:

"Working outdoors is what excites me most. There is no substitute for the lighting and infinite effects it has upon the landscape. Plus, the diversity of shapes, color and texture make outdoor painting a constant source of new material. I try to simplify nature into values, shapes, and color to create a believable scene. Then I concentrate on refining color temperature and textures to orchestrate a unified and vibrant work of art. I am also fascinated by the quality of paint itself. Trying to let the application of the brush stroke speak it's own language into the painting. Painting from life has been challenging, but also very humbling, and the quest seems to be more about the journey than the destination.‚Δω
